Picture
Over the River and Through the Woods
A Comedy by Joe DiPietro
Directed by Joseph Mercure

October 20, 21, 27, 28, November 3, 4 at 8:00 pm

Starring Andrew Bradley, Paul Campbell, Kate Curley, Christine Grudinskas, Bob Maibor, and Evie Rayburg

Nick is a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey. His parents retired and moved to Florida. That doesn't mean his family isn't still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. This is routine until he has to tell them that he's been offered a dream job. The job he's been waiting for—marketing executive—would take him away from his beloved, but annoying, grandparents. He tells them. The news doesn't sit so well. Thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. How could he betray his family's love to move to Seattle, for a job, wonder his grandparents? Well, Frank, Aida, Nunzio and Emma do their level best, and that includes bringing to dinner the lovely—and single—Caitlin O'Hare as bait…we won't give the ending away here.

"A hilarious family comedy that is even funnier than his long-running musical revue I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. —BackStage. "Loaded with laughs every step of the way." —Star-Ledger.

Two middle-aged widows share a back yard. One house belongs to Flo Owens, who lives there with her two teen-aged daughters, Madge and Millie, and a boarder who is a spinster school teacher. The other house belongs to Helen Potts, who lives with her elderly and invalid mother. Into this female atmosphere comes a young man named Hal Carter, whose animal vitality seriously upsets the entire group. Flo is wary of temptations for her daughters. Madge, bored with being only a beauty, is lured by the excitement Hal promises. Her sister, Millie, finds her balance for the first time through the stranger's brief attention. And the spinster is stirred to make an issue out of the dangling courtship that has brightened her life.

He’s “throwing a ball tonight” – and you're all invited, to a “swellegant” theatrical party spanning the life of Broadway’s greatest wit, the irrepressible Cole Porter. A scintillating mixture of biography and song, Red Hot and Cole celebrates the great American songwriter who brought style, elegance and sophistication to the stages and sound stages of Broadway and Hollywood, delighting the world with his devilishly clever rhymes, fresh and unexpected melodies and sassy, sexy sensibility.

Red Hot and Cole bubbles with songs that have become international standards, from such classic shows and movies as “Anything Goes,” “Kiss Me Kate,” “High Society” and “Can-Can” among others. It traces Porter’s life from his childhood in Indiana to the stages and penthouses of New York, London, Paris and Venice. It’s a champagne tribute to a glittering age gone by, and the man and talent who was Cole Porter.

Come spend an hour with Emily Dickinson as she shares her poetry and tells you about her life, family, friends, and her joys and sorrows. Actor Beth Goldman performs as Emily Dickinson in this adaptation of the play The Belle of Amherst by William Luce, which delicately explores the life of America's greatest woman poet at various stages in her experience from the age of 15, when she was full of hope and success, until she died at 56, a virtual recluse with her door closed against society. Her life is recreated with liberal excerpts from her poetry and by the method of her playing the roles of her father, teacher and friends.

Proceeds from special events benefit the Capital Improvement Fund.
