Future Plans: Philosophy/Theatre
When I was 11 I hit a really low point in my life, and theatre pushed me forward: the rush I got from becoming a different person made me feel good, and the support you have from everyone around me was immense. I knew that whenever I got to perform, whether it be an actual performance or just at rehearsal, I would immediately feel better.
As I got more involved in theatre, it really changed who I became in real life. I seemed more confident in myself and my abilities. I went from a semi shy kid to now knowing and talking to a variety of people. If not exposed to theatre, I would not have any of these confidences. Not only did I become more aware of myself and more outgoing, but theatre has helped me immensely with my public speaking skills. Clarity and diction are a big part of the theatrical experience and I now apply those to my everyday life in order to be heard and acknowledged speaking impromptu about subject matter thrown my way.
Riley appeared as Jay in the Footlighters production of Lost in Yonkers. He was nominated for a DASH Award as Best Youth Actor in a Play.
