Rich Morton 1948 - 2019
Richard J. Morton passed away on February 16, 2019. He was 70.
Rich was an active member of the Canton Community Theatre and the Walpole Footlighters. Rich was a member of the Footlighters for many years and also served as President on the Board of Directors. His first show with the Footlighters was 45 Seconds to Broadway, for which he auditioned in the driveway of the Playhouse because the director, Paul Campbell, hadn't gotten a key yet! He was cast as Bernie and went on to appear in many productions including Cemetery Club, The Bay at Nice, Hollywood Arms, Red Hot and Cole, and Spreading It Around. Some might remember Rich more recently as the Foley artist on stage making all of the sound effects in our performance of the radio play, It's a Wonderful Life.
When not on stage, Rich designed the sound effects for the Footlighters and operated the sound system during performances.
Loving father of Jessica A. Morton of Norwood. Brother of Buddy Morton and his wife Joan of Lakeville and Bobby Morton and his wife Deanna of Jenks, OK. Son of the late Arthur and Gertrude Morton. Former husband of Deborah Morton of Norwood.
