Rita Fleming Rosano 1931 - 2016
Rita Fleming Rosano, age 84, of Ivoryton, CT passed away peacefully on June 16, 2016. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Louis E. Rosano. Loving mother of Michael J. Rosano of Ivoryton, CT, Mary K. Rosano of White Plains, NY, and Elizabeth Rosano Francis and her husband Stephen C. of Frisco, CO. Rita also leaves her grandchildren, Thomas L. Francis and Elena K. Francis of Frisco, CO, as well as her brother Thomas and his wife Bobby Jo Fleming of Georgetown, TX, sister-in-law Denise Fleming of East Hartford, CT and her brother-in-law, Joseph L. and his wife Elizabeth Rosano of Portland, CT, and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Rita was predeceased by her brother Donald Fleming.
Rita was born in Hartford, CT on September 29, 1931 to Thomas J. and Louise (Lally) Fleming. She graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in Springfield, MA and obtained her BSN from Southern Connecticut State University. Rita was a lifelong nurse. She was also an active member of the Old Saybrook Estuary (and theatre group), the Acton Public Library and the Ivoryton Playhouse. Prior to moving to Ivoryton, Rita was a resident of Walpole, MA, for many years, where she was a member of the Walpole Footlighters and served as Treasurer. Rita's visitation was held on Wednesday, June 22nd from 5-7 pm at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook CT. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, June 23rd at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St, Essex, CT at 11 am. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita's name to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453 an organization that funds operations for those with cleft lips, palates or other facial deformities.
