Set in 1952 in Macao, China, Adrift in Macao is a loving parody of film noir movies. Everyone that comes to Macao is waiting for something, and though none of them know exactly what that is, they hang around to find out.
All characters are open to a wide range of adult ages.
Lureena - Alto belt/Sop. with high C, E3-C6. Nightclub singer. She’s a good egg who has been through a lot. A little cynical, but a romantic.
Corinna - Mezzo/Sop, F3-B6. A second banana to Lureena and not happy about it. Jealous, seductive, capricious.
Mitch - Tenor, B2-E4 A private eye looking for the mysterious Mr. McGuffin, who framed him for murder. Masculine, rugged, but maybe hurting deep inside.
Rick - Bari-Tenor. Ab2-F4 Sleazy nightclub owner; a man who knows his way around the shadows.
Tempura - Bari-Tenor. C2-G4 An Asian man who works in Rick’s nightclub. Inscrutable. There may be more to him than meets the eye.
The Trenchcoat Chorus - two characters who play several roles and jump from character to character quickly. One man (High Baritone, B2-F4) one woman (Soprano, B4-A6)
