The Walpole Footlighters will hold auditions for Adrift In Macao with Music by Peter Melnick and Book and Lyrics by Christopher Durang on January 13 & 14. The production is directed by Jonah LeDoux with musical direction by Dan Moore and choreography by Lisa Kelleher.
Auditions will be held at the Footlighters Playhouse, 2 Scout Road, East Walpole, MA. Audition Dates: Sunday January 13 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Monday January 14 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Production dates: May 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18 at 8:00 PM, May 5, 19 at 2:00 PM Please note: Individuals auditioning on Sunday may be called back for Monday. Please prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. Set in 1952 in Macao, China, Adrift in Macao is a loving parody of film noir movies. Everyone that comes to Macao is waiting for something, and though none of them know exactly what that is, they hang around to find out. All characters are open to a wide range of adult ages. Characters: Lureena - Alto belt/Sop. with high C, E3-C6. Nightclub singer. She’s a good egg who has been through a lot. A little cynical, but a romantic. Corinna - Mezzo/Sop, F3-B6. A second banana to Lureena and not happy about it. Jealous, seductive, capricious. Mitch - Tenor, B2-E4 A private eye looking for the mysterious Mr. McGuffin, who framed him for murder. Masculine, rugged, but maybe hurting deep inside. Rick - Bari-Tenor. Ab2-F4 Sleazy nightclub owner; a man who knows his way around the shadows. Tempura - Bari-Tenor. C2-G4 An Asian man who works in Rick’s nightclub. Inscrutable. There may be more to him than meets the eye. The Trenchcoat Chorus - two characters who play several roles and jump from character to character quickly. One man (High Baritone, B2-F4) one woman (Soprano, B4-A6)
