The Walpole Footlighters will be holding auditions for their fall production "Boeing Boeing", directed by Wendy Stuart, on Tuesday, June 17 & Wednesday, June 18 with call-backs on Thursday, June 19. Auditions will be held at the theater, 2 Scout Rd., Walpole, from 7-10 pm.
Please prepare a 1-2 minute comic monologue. There will also be readings from the script. PLOT SUMMARY: The French farce, adapted for the English-speaking stage, features self-styled American lothario, Bernard, who has Italian, German and American fiancees, each a beautiful airline hostess with frequent "layovers." He keeps "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris and Bernard's apartment at the same time! Bernard's school friend, Robert, a visitor from Wisconsin, and his housekeeper, Berthe, attempt to diffuse the inevitable chaos. CHARACTERS (2 m., 4 f.) BERNARD (30's-40's) : American businessman, bachelor, debonair, narcissistic. ROBERT (30's-40's) : old friend of Bernard's, rube from Wisconsin, unsophisticated, naive, initially dazzled by all the machinations. GLORIA (20's-mid 30's) : American air hostess, perky, health obsessed, supremely confident. GABRIELLA (20's-mid 30's) : Italian air hostess, sultry, lusty, kittenish, temperamental. GRETCHEN (20's-mid 30's) : German air hostess, dominating, passionate, intense, physical prowess. BERTHE (40's-50's) : French "existentialist" housekeeper, acidic, disgruntled.
