The Walpole Footlighters will hold auditions for Almost Maine, directed by Frank Moffett, on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30, with callbacks on Wednesday, July 1, at 7:00 PM at 2 Scout Rd., Walpole, MA. The play will be produced with 8 actors: 4 female and 4 male. Readings will be from the script. Actors who are cast will perform in at least 2 scenes from the play. Rehearsal will begin the week of August 16. Performance dates are: October 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 & 25.
Synopsis: On a cold, clear moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost Maines residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mendalmostin this delightful midwinter nights dream. Character Descriptions - Almost Maine Prologue: PETE and GINETTE, who have been dating for a little while. Pete thinks outside of the box and Ginette will do what she can to show Pete that she loves him. Her Heart: EAST, a repairman and GLORY, the heartbroken hiker he finds camping in his yard Sad and Glad: JIMMY, a lonely heating and cooling guy. SANDRINE, Jimmy's "engaged to another man" ex-girlfriend, and a salty WAITRESS This Hurts: MARVALYN, a woman who is very good at protecting herself and STEVE, a numb kind fellow whose overprotective brother shields him Getting It Back: GAYLE, a patient girlfriend who has been waiting too long and LENDALL, an oblivious boyfriend who has cashed in his love for the ultimate gift They Fell: RANDY and CHAD, two "county guys" who haven't had the best experiences when it comes to dating. Where It Went: PHIL, a working forgetful husband and MARCI, his hardworking wife who wants him to remember.
