The performance dates for Kiss Me, Kate are May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 at 8:00 p.m. and May 3, 10, 17 at 2:00 p.m. With music by Cole Porter and lyrics and book by Samuel and Bella Spewack, Kiss Me, Kate is a musical that blends together operetta and musical comedy. The story involves the Baltimore theater production of a musical version of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew and the conflict on and off-stage between Fred Graham, the show's director, producer, and star, and his leading lady, his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane, the actress playing Bianca, and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, who runs afoul with some gangsters. The show pays homage to Shakespeare, operetta, musical comedy and vaudeville. All roles are open. The cast will include approximately 20 actors. Character details are available on our website.
